Not looking forward to this at all. We only need a draw .. Can only imagine how negative we'll be.

Well, this is a massive game thanks to us laying a fucking egg in Greece a few weeks ago.

Very worried as it's not a 'must win' but a 'must not lose' so i think we can guess how Moyes will approach it with backs to the wall defending our penalty area and hoping for one on the break. I'm not convinced given recent form we can keep them out, but we will see.

One thing. Several of the players really need to raise their fucking game as well.

Moyes will play for the draw, then we'll concede late for the 2-1 defeat. The useless cunt.

Like the optimism.
I think they'll up for this and get whats needed.
Thanks Charley, especially for getting the Fulham thread unpinned.

Its going to be a dull nervy game!

Instead of starting strong and trying to get the game won, and then rotate some players.

We will inevitably play very defensive, leave them with a sniff all game. Meaning we have a really intense game until the final whistle. and then we a knackered for the game v wolves!

As long as the players ignore what Moyes tells them to do we'll be fine .

Re: ⚽ West Ham v SC Freiburg - Official Match Thread - Preview
They are top half in the German league, so clearly no mugs who could turn us over, bearing in mind we have defenders who look like park players. But do me a favour with the ''playing for the draw'' nonsense, won't happen, it's not practical, particularly in front of 60k poor cunts under the lights, no matter how edgy you think you might sound wheeling that out on a forum.

I think they (Freiburg) will do what Frankfurt did to us at the bowl.....

El Scorchio 6:08 Mon Dec 11
Re: ⚽ West Ham v SC Freiburg - Official Match Thread - Preview
It's got nothing to do with being 'edgy' at all. It's got everything to do with how Moyes is known to set up in these types of situation.

We are to all intents and purposes going into this with a virtual 1-0 lead and his first thought is always in these situations to preserve that by defending it rather than extend it by attacking. That is what is practical to this manager.

Unless we win the next 2 games by 5 goals, make 5 subs and introduce 3 youth team players in each game Moyes should go without hesitation.
That is the only way we are going to progress.

.
Just suck and tired of this clown his attitude to players and fans is disgraceful. How can he not resign or be sacked Now,today. The board and him are absolutely cowards.

I half agree. I expect us to have a go from the off, But the longer the match goes on without a lead, the bigger the draw becomes the target.

I can't see this being a very open match, especially as they notched 5 against Olympiacos.

No worries we have his lynchpin Tommy Soucek leading us with an all action display of heading and pointing as the ball goes by.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v SC Freiburg - Official Match Thread - Preview
Jaan - Possibly towards the end but that would still be a big risk and the game would also have to be level at that point. Sitting back if we're in front, yes, that would be very likely.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v SC Freiburg - Official Match Thread - Preview
Manuel - Absolutely. Moyes will want them to throw everything early for a lead.

Freiburg haven't scored a great deal in their league, although they haven't conceded much either. I just don't see where Moyes will take risks at out scoring them after half time.

Not sure what to expect from this one? by all accounts We have a virus in the club, and i don't mean Moyes! apparently, that's one of the reasons for that shit show at Fulham.

The bladder is neutral on this one so assume thats a draw on the cards which should be enough to secure top spot despite zee Germans having a better GD, the fact we beat them in sausage land sees us top.

1-1

Still in all the Cups
Still Going through to knock out in this one for 2024
Still 9th in the League

Still inconsistent as fuck (hence likely mid table hovering for the rest of the season)
Still playing football most don't enjoy watching
Still ignoring youth team to 1st team opportunities

Pick your glass, half empty or half full, that's West Ham

Re: ⚽ West Ham v SC Freiburg - Official Match Thread - Preview
Moyes must tell the players the same every game home or away regardless of the opposition. No point watching predictable boring crap and the players he has bought in to play his 19th Century football are not good enough to pull it off.

Attack from the off and see if we can get an early goal advantage. IF we get lucky defend the lead and try and nick another on the break, but remember you only need one goal to win a game IF you all get back behind the ball and keep a clean sheet. If you don't get a goal after first ten minutes revert to our well drilled defensive formation that we practice on all week. As said never lose sight of the fact keep a clean sheet and we can't lose still come away with a point. If they score first you will have to push up carefully and try and get back in the game without losing your defensive shape and conceding again because thats game over. Hopefully we will get that all important goal in the 90 mins, remember we've always got James deliveries the best set pieces for Tommy to hopefully get on the end off one. And don't start getting delusions of grandeur out there, we are not good enough for top six, stick to the plan.
